Looking over the shepherds fields, my
mind can see the Bible stories come to life. At times I think I see
the mourners for Rachel; Ruth and Boaz holding hands through the
fields; David with his sheep - kicking stones - while learning how to
use his sling shot; and finally....do I really see the angels hovering
above proclaiming the glory of the "new born king?" Then...upon
leaving the area, my heart saddens as I think of the killing of the
children by Herod's army. So much history in such a small place! - K.
