Deuteronomy 11:13-17
“It shall come about, if you
listen obediently to my commandments which I am commanding you today, to love
the LORD your God and to serve Him with all your heart and all your soul, that
He will give the rain for your land in its season, the early and late rain,
that you may gather in your grain and your new wine and your oil. He
will give grass in your fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be
satisfied. Beware that your hearts are not deceived,
and that you do not turn away and serve other gods and worship them. Or
the anger of the LORD will be kindled against you, and He will shut up the
heavens so that there will be no rain and the ground will not yield its fruit;
and you will perish quickly from the good land which the LORD is giving you.”
1 Corinthians 7:1-8
Now concerning the things about
which you wrote, it is good for a man not to touch a woman. But
because of immoralities, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband. The
husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband
does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own
body, but the wife does. Stop depriving one another, except
by agreement for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come
together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of
self-control. But this I say by way of concession, not of command. Yet
I wish that all men were even as I myself am. However, each man has his own gift
from God, one in this manner, and another in that.
But I say to the unmarried and
to widows that it is good for them if they remain even as I.
Luke 20:34-36
And Jesus said to them, “The
sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, but those who
are considered worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead,
neither marry nor are given in marriage; for they cannot even die
anymore, because they are like angels, and are sons of God, being sons of the
resurrection.”
Acts 4:32-35
And the congregation of those
who believed were of one heart and soul; and not one of
them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own, but all things
were common property to them. And with great power the apostles
were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus,
and abundant grace was upon them all. For there was not a needy person among them, for all who were
owners of land or houses would sell them and bring the proceeds of the sales and
lay them at the apostles’ feet, and they would be distributed to each as any
had need.
1Samuel 11:1-5
Now Nahash
the Ammonite came up and besieged Jabesh-gilead; and
all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash,
“Make a covenant with us and we will serve you.” But Nahash the Ammonite said to them, “I will make it
with you on this condition, that I will gouge out the
right eye of every one of you, thus I will make it a reproach on all Israel.” The elders of Jabesh
said to him, “Let us alone for seven days, that we may
send messengers throughout the territory of Israel. Then, if there is no one to deliver us, we will come out
to you.” Then the messengers came to Gibeah
of Saul and spoke these words in the hearing of the people,
and all the people lifted up their voices and wept.
Now behold, Saul was coming
from the field behind the oxen, and he said, “What is the matter with
the people that they weep?” So they related to him the words of the men of Jabesh.
2 Kings 3:4-27
Now Mesha
king of Moab was a sheep breeder, and used to pay the king of Israel 100,000
lambs and the wool of 100,000 rams. But when Ahab died, the king of
Moab rebelled against the king of Israel. And King Jehoram went out of Samaria at that time and mustered all Israel. Then he went and sent word to Jehoshaphat
the king of Judah, saying, “The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you
go with me to fight against Moab?” And he said, “I will go up; I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.” He
said, “Which way shall we go up?” And he answered, “The way of the wilderness
of Edom.”
So the king of Israel went
with the king of Judah and the king of Edom; and they made a circuit of seven
days’ journey, and there was no water for the army or for the cattle that
followed them. Then the king of Israel said, “Alas! For the LORD
has called these three kings to give them into the hand of Moab.” But
Jehoshaphat said, “Is there not a prophet of the LORD
here, that we may inquire of the LORD by him?” And one
of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, “Elisha
the son of Shaphat is here, who used to pour water on
the hands of Elijah.” Jehoshaphat said, “The word of the LORD is
with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and
the king of Edom went down to him.
Now Elisha
said to the king of Israel, “What do I have to do with you? Go to the prophets
of your father and to the prophets of your mother.” And the king of Israel said
to him, “No, for the LORD has called these three kings together to give
them into the hand of Moab.” Elisha said, “As the LORD of hosts
lives, before whom I stand, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look at you nor
see you. But now bring me a minstrel.” And it came about, when
the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him. He
said, “Thus says the LORD, ‘Make this valley full of trenches.’ For
thus says the LORD, ‘You shall not see wind nor shall you see rain; yet that
valley shall be filled with water, so that you shall drink, both you and your
cattle and your beasts. This is but a
slight thing in the sight of the LORD; He will also give the Moabites into your
hand. Then you shall strike every fortified city and every choice
city, and fell every good tree and stop all springs of water, and mar every
good piece of land with stones.’” It happened in the morning about
the time of offering the sacrifice, that behold, water came by the way of Edom,
and the country was filled with water.
Now all the Moabites heard
that the kings had come up to fight against them. And all who were able to put
on armor and older were summoned and stood on the border. They
rose early in the morning, and the sun shone on the water, and the Moabites saw
the water opposite them as red as blood. Then they said,
“This is blood; the kings have surely fought together, and they have slain one
another. Now therefore, Moab, to the spoil!” But when they came to the camp of Israel,
the Israelites arose and struck the Moabites, so that they fled before them;
and they went forward into the land, slaughtering the Moabites. Thus
they destroyed the cities; and each one threw a stone on every piece of good
land and filled it. So they stopped all the springs of water and felled all the
good trees, until in Kir-hareseth only they
left its stones; however, the slingers went about it and struck it. When
the king of Moab saw that the battle was too fierce for him, he took with him
men who drew swords, to break through to the king of Edom; but they could
not. Then he took his oldest son who was to reign in his place,
and offered him as a burnt offering on the wall. And there came great wrath
against Israel, and they departed from him and returned to their own land.
Mark 13:8
“For nation will rise up
against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in
various places; there will also be famines. These things are merely
the beginning of birth pangs.”
Romans 8
For we know that the whole creation
groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.

Ezekiel 47:1-12
Then he brought me back to the
door of the house; and behold, water was flowing from under the threshold of
the house toward the east, for the house faced east. And the water was flowing
down from under, from the right side of the house, from south of the altar. He
brought me out by way of the north gate and led me around on the outside to the
outer gate by way of the gate that faces east. And behold, water was
trickling from the south side.
When the man went out toward
the east with a line in his hand, he measured a thousand cubits, and he led me
through the water, water reaching the ankles. Again he
measured a thousand and led me through the water, water reaching the
knees. Again he measured a thousand and led me through the water, water reaching
the loins. Again he measured a thousand; and it was a river
that I could not ford, for the water had risen, enough water to swim in,
a river that could not be forded. He said to me, “Son of man, have
you seen this?” Then he brought me back to the bank of the river. Now
when I had returned, behold, on the bank of the river there were very
many trees on the one side and on the other. Then he said to me,
“These waters go out toward the eastern region and go down into the Arabah; then they go toward the sea, being made to flow
into the sea, and the waters of the sea become fresh. It
will come about that every living creature which swarms in every place where
the river goes, will live. And there will be very many fish, for these waters
go there and the others become fresh; so everything will live where the
river goes. And it will come about that fishermen will stand
beside it; from Engedi to Eneglaim
there will be a place for the spreading of nets. Their fish will be according
to their kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea, very many. But
its swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt. By
the river on its bank, on one side and on the other, will grow all kinds of
trees for food. Their leaves will not wither and their fruit will not fail.
They will bear every month because their water flows from the sanctuary, and
their fruit will be for food and their leaves for healing.”
