EPIDAURUS

It is an old sanctuary dedicated to Asklepios, god of healing. It goes back to the 6th century BC. The sanctuary was amplified during the 4th. and 3rd. centuries BC by an ambitious building program adding to it the temple and altar of Asklepios, the Tholos, the Abaton, the Theatre which is still in excellent shape, the Ceremonial Hestiatoreion, the Baths, the Palaestra etc. The majority of tourists coming into Greece visit the site on a daily basis.
