POROS

It is composed by two small Island s connected through a narrow land corridor. In the 7th century BC, it was the maneuver center of seven wars with the Sanctuary of Poseidon as the most important temple at that time. It suffered the same luck as the rest of the Greek Islands: invasions, piracy and occupation till its reunification to Greece with the establishment of the first Greek military base. The Sanctuary of Poseidon is the most remarkable monument. Poros has beautiful landscapes of vegetation and beaches. The capital posses a special style of two floor houses with paved narrow streets. The "Grand Neorio" is one of the most charming areas in the western side of the Island.
